The birth date on the arrest record (9/25/1985) is two days off from Johnson's actual (9/23/1985) birth date, but the story has been confirmed by NBC Sports (PFT, Jan 10)
Johnson signed a 2-year deal with the Jets last off season worth $4 million per year. The 29-year-old was brought in to strengthen the Jets running game. The signing didn't work out as planned. After never failing to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, Johnson rushed for only 663 yards and had 151 receiving yards, both career lows.
We doubt that a new Jets coach and general manager will have much patience for a guy who has been in decline and could represent an additional $3.5 million in cap savings to a team looking to retool for 2015.
Johnson was a disappointment in his first and likely only season with the Jets and we would expect that some time between now and free agency the Jets would cut ties with Johnson as they look to a fairly deep running back class in the draft.
