Jets rookie DL Quinnen Williams was hit with his first fine from the NFL.
The league fined Williams $21,056 for his hit on Falcons QB Matt Schaub during Week 2 of the preseason, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Williams was called for roughing the passer during the second quarter in the game.
That was Williams' first NFL game, and though he didn't record a sack or tackle, his presence in the trenches was certainly showcased. He was applying pressure up the middle, and showed he could get to the quarterback despite being a little late on that one hit.
Though Williams hasn't showed much in the preseason, word from practice has been very positive. He has been making an immediate impact in defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' system, and is learning from veteran teammates like Leonard Williams -- all while having that infectious smile on his face.
When Week 1 rolls around, Quinnen Williams will be allowed to truly let it go against the Bills, where Jets fans will see what the No. 3 overall pick will be giving them now and in the future.
Making sure those hits are legal and his money can stay in his pocket is an obvious goal, too.
