The Jets have signed LB Micah Awe to a reserves/future contract, the team announced.
Awe, 24, most recently played for the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League, where he made 54 tackles last season.
The Nigeria native played for Texas Tech from 2012-15. He was a defensive captain in 2015 and made 266 tackles in his Aggies career. After his senior season, he went undrafted but signed by the Buccaneers. He was with their practice squad before being cut.
The Jets told the BC Lions that they "feel very good about his opportunity with their football team," according to BC Lions general manager Ed Harvey, via The Province. The BC Lions allowed Awe out of his contract to pursue an opportunity in the NFL.
