Now Commenting On:

The Jets announced Friday that they have signed second-round pick Jace Amaro, a 6-5, 260-pound tight end from Texas Tech.

Amaro's deal is worth $4.3 million over four years (Cimini, May 16).

With Amaro under contract, the Jets have now inked eight of their 12 draft picks.

Amaro is massive and his massiveness will be a big part of upgrading this offense in 2014.  The Jets have gone outside-in in upgrading this offense this spring with Decker in free agency and then Amaro in the draft.  As of now the team's starting quarterback will have three reliable targets to get the ball to in Decker, Kerley and now Amaro and that will make all the difference in the Jets passing attack ... which was one of the league worst in 2013 and still won't need to be a league-best to help this team make the leap in terms of their league-wide relevance.
