The Jets currently have the No. 11 overall pick in the draft, but the latest mock draft from CBS Sports has Gang Green moving up to select one of the top offensive linemen available.
Josh Edwards projects the Jets could send the 11th overall pick and their 2020 third-round pick to Arizona for the eighth overall pick, where they would select Louisville offensive lineman Mekhi Becton. Here's how CBS Sports explains the move:
"New York looks at the teams sitting 8-9-10 and decides they should nab one of those offensive tackles before a run occurs. Becton is off the board in exchange for No. 11 overall and a 2020 third-round pick. They have two third-round picks following an in-season trade of Leonard Williams."
Becton was named first-team All-ACC in 2019 and also captured the Jacobs Blocking Award given to the conference's best blocker.
Incidentally, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah mentioned Becton as a possible target of the Giants, who sit with the No. 4 overall pick.
"To me Mekhi Becton is a freak, from Louisville, an absolute freak," Jeremiah said of Becton on Friday. "I'm not in the business of trading off freaks at a need position. He's a left tackle. He's a better version of Bryant McKinnie. He's going to be that guy for the next 10 to 12 years to protect your franchise quarterback. He's so big, so long, so athletic, even when he is not perfect, it doesn't matter because nobody can get through him. He's 6'7", 370 pounds. You just don't see guys like that come around very often.
