New Giant and former Jets defensive lineman Leonard Williams went to Instagram Monday night to thank the team that drafted him with the sixth overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
"I wanted to take the time to thank the whole @nyjets organization for drafting me and first giving me the opportunity into the NFL! It's been a pleasure playing here over the last few years through all the ups and downs and will never forget the memories and experiences Shared with my teammates and coaches!
Now moving onto the next chapter of my life I want to thank the @nygiants for giving me the opportunity to continue my professional career in the big apple #LFG #GMEN," Williams said.
Williams was traded to the Giants Monday for a 2020 third round pick and a 2021 fifth round pick, which can become a fourth round pick for the Jets if the Giants are able to sign Williams to a long term deal this offseason. Williams is slated to become an unrestricted free agent.
The Giants are expected to try signing the lineman to said deal, despite some big early season struggles to start the season.
Williams has just 20 tackles and zero sacks through seven games this season for the Jets, but perhaps he needs a change of scenery to wake himself up. Maybe the switch to a different locker room in the same buidling will be enough for him.
