Impact Sports' head agent for Milliner Tony Fleming, confirmed the rumor yesterday by statement saying that "I know that everything was done to ensure that Mr. Milliner would be drafted as high as possible. Dee was the first cornerback selected, and he was drafted ninth overall to the New York Jets. This is a tremendous accomplishment. I wish Mr. Milliner future success in his professional career."
Maybe this means that Geno and Milliner will carry a chip on their shoulder on the field when it comes time to compete? I sure hope so ...
Draft analysts saw Milliner potentially going in the top five, but it's extremely rare for corners to do and tackles and upside pass-rushers were the phrase that pays in this year's top five.
Totally guessing, but if I had to conjecture with whom Milliner will wind up? It would be Jay-Z's agency.
He's in New York, he was still a top ten pick, we Jets fans now have a slight fetish for standout cornerback play and now there's something of a void on the Jets roster for marquee players. The draft results might be the reason for the dismissal, but I could see why he would be pursued as a good get by a nascent sports agency with deep ties to the New York area and the sex appeal of a major figure in music.
