NFL.com is already projecting the All-Rookie Teams for the 2019 season, and there's a Jet on the list. But it's not who you'd think.
Quinnen Williams, whom the Jets selected No. 3 overall in the NFL Draft, is not one of the two defensive tackles on the league's predicted All-Rookie defense. Ed Oliver of the Bills, who went at No. 9, and Greg Gaines of the Rams, a fourth-round pick, were the two defensive tackles chosen for the team.
Jachai Polite, the edge rusher the Jets took in the third round, did make the list.
The Jets do have the likes of Leonard Williams and Henry Anderson on the defensive line, so perhaps the rationale is Williams wouldn't be getting enough snaps. Or maybe it's just an oversight.
Because Quinnen Williams was considered one of the most talented players, if not the most talented, in the 2019 draft class, and new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams surely will be looking to make the most out of Quinnen Williams' talent.
Anything can happen, but it's hard to believe, barring injury, that the Alabama product wouldn't be one of the two best rookie defensive tackles this year.
