With the announcement of this year's Pro Bowl rosters, it's worth asking whether the Jets had anyone worthy of being selected this year. Turns out, the answer is no.
Though rookie safety Jamal Adams was quite popular in fan voting, he's had an up-and-down season, and despite his promising future, he can't claim to be more deserving than some of the more consistently impactful safeties in the AFC. Similarly, Leonard Williams has been disruptive up front after a wrist injury affected his early season production. However, with his sack numbers way down compared to last year and the Jets 5-9, he can't claim to have made the same impact as some of the more statistically productive defensive linemen on more successful teams.
Players like Robby Anderson and Demario Davis have had career years, but their overall production falls well short of several more established players at their respective positions. And while quarterback Josh McCown was a fifth alternate, his injury put an end to such hopes. Perhaps the most worthy candidate is someone few people have mentioned: safety Rontez Miles.
Miles arguably deserves consideration as the AFC's special teams representative, having racked up 11 solo tackles -- two off the league lead -- despite missing the first three games with an eye injury. That said, with some of the recent special teams breakdowns the Jets have suffered, his overall body of work probably falls short too.
