On Sunday, the Jets were able to take advantage of a Chiefs team that was reeling after a great start to the season went awry. This weekend, they face another team that got off to a good start, but has fallen even further. In week five, when the 3-1 Broncos lost to the previously-winless Giants, this was viewed as one of the upsets of the season. However, that was the first of eight consecutive losses for Denver, who will be looking to right the ship against the Jets on Sunday.
During that span, it's been the offense that has been letting the Broncos down, as they've only scored 20 points once - in a 28-point blowout loss to the Eagles. Their quarterback play has been shaky all season and the offensive line is struggling, especially in pass protection. On defense, they'll be without one of their best run stoppers and one of the best cover corners as Derek Wolfe just landed on injured reserve and Aqib Talib is serving a suspension following his fight with Michael Crabtree two weeks ago.
This all paints a rosy picture for the Jets, but they've been in this situation twice before on the road against the Browns and Bucs and put forth a very uninspiring performance each time. They'll need to somehow try and slow Von Miller down, which will be a tough assignment for youngster Brandon Shell, even though he held up quite well against Justin Houston on Sunday.
If the Jets can get an early spark from a turnover or a big play on offense, it could set them up for a win, but if they make a slow start again, it could be a frustrating day for a team that is already looking back on a few winnable games they let slip.
