Yesterday, we considered who might be considered the most valuable player on each side of the ball. Now, let's start to think about which players are the most improved since last season.
Surprisingly, two of the most experienced player on each side of the ball - Demario Davis and Josh McCown - are arguably having career years. However, there's also plenty of young players who have made good progress since last season. Robby Anderson and Jordan Jenkins would probably be the best examples, but Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Darryl Roberts could also be contenders. While Darron Lee has certainly shown progress over the course of the season, he started the year poorly and will have to prove he can keep his recent play up over a longer period of time.
It's possible the most improved player of all isn't on offense or defense. Punter Lachlan Edwards had an inconsistent year last year, but his consistency has been much better this season and the coaches have praised how hard he worked during the offseason. The Jets have been looking for a reliable punter for such a long time that it's refreshing for it not to have been a weakness.
The Jets will be looking forward to some of their younger players showing improvements next year, but this is not guaranteed. Some of the players they were hoping to see improvement from have been disappointments, for various reasons. These would include Lorenzo Mauldin and Juston Burris.
