After Sunday's games, the NFL standings make for very interesting reading. There's a bit of a logjam forming, and the Jets are in a position where they could be in touching distance of a playoff spot or a high draft pick depending how the rest of the season goes down.
There are only six teams with a worse record than the Jets right now -- and it could have been five because the 4-6 Bears missed a last-second field goal that would have sent their game with the Lions into overtime.
Perhaps more interestingly, the Jets are only one game out of the final wild-card spot, as the Titans are the only non-division leader with a winning record. The Ravens and the slumping Bills are currently tied for the second spot at 5-5.
It's easy to imagine a scenario in which the Jets lose most of their remaining games and end up with a high pick, but if they can continue to defy the skeptics and win a few after the bye, they might find themselves still in mathematical contention with a couple of weeks to go. Whatever happens, they'll probably rue the fact they blew a couple of winnable games in the run-up to the bye.
