Although the Bucs will be without Jameis Winston and Mike Evans on Sunday, this is not a team that lacks weapons. Without Evans, the passing game will be led by veteran Desean Jackson, who had a 100-yard game against New England last month, and Adam Humphries, a productive possession option. At tight end, Cameron Brate broke out last year and is currently 12th in the league for tight end receptions while rookie OJ Howard leads the team in yards per catch.
For the second straight year, running back Doug Martin has struggled, having rushed for over 1,400 yards in 2015, but he is still capable of carrying a load.
Defensively, the Bucs are last in the NFL in sacks, but Gerald McCoy and Robert Ayers are both solid against the run and their linebackers are an athletic group, led by Lavonte David.
With these pieces in place, it's perhaps surprising the Bucs lost five in a row even with Winston and Evans, but maybe the fact they have fewer options will lead them to come up with a more focused gameplan. The Jets also need to be aware of something Bart Scott likes to point out; the fact that back-up quarterbacks often have better chemistry with the reserves than the starters because that's who they practice with and played with in preseason. In that respect, maybe the Evans absence could work out in the Bucs favor.
