One feature of the current Falcons' losing streak has been their ongoing struggles against the run. After holding the Bills to 117 yards on 3.3 yards per carry, they then gave up 4.5 yards per carry in each of the next two games, with Miami gaining 145 yards and New England racking up 162.
Can the Jets have similar success on Sunday? The Falcons are strong up the middle with Dontari Poe and Grady Jarrett both excelling against the run, but their defensive ends are not as good and while they have good speed in their linebacker group, Duke Riley and Deion Jones are both undersized. De'Vondre Campbell and Kemal Ishmael offer more size and might be needed this week with both Riley and Jones dealing with injuries. Safety Keanu Neal contributes a lot in the running game too.
Worryingly for the Falcons, the Dolphins had success with their zone blocking system, but the Patriots were even more successful with their system, which relies more on man/power blocking schemes. In the past, the Jets have used both, but they've primarily been using zone blocking schemes over the past few weeks. Having seen the Falcon's past two opponents have success with both styles, the Jets will be hopeful that they can rack up some yards this week, especially if the Falcons are shorthanded.
