The Jets are obviously banged up physically and emotionally after suffering a grueling loss for the third week in a row. They may be forced to play some reserves on Thursday night, depending on the availability of starters like Muhammad Wilkerson, Claiborne and Buster Skrine.
Several healthy players didn't receive much playing time Sunday, so the Jets have some guys who could provide a boost against Buffalo. Since the Jets don't have much elite talent, there's not much of a downgrade if they opt to use these players instead, and their fresh legs might even provide an upgrade, especially as they face a Bills team that also played a tough game on Sunday.
On offense, Elijah McGuire carried the ball just once; Chad Hansen barely played; ArDarius Stewart wasn't even active. Even Forte, who has been griping about not getting enough carries, will be fresher than usual and could therefore respond well to an increased workload.
Defensively, David Bass didn't get any reps despite having played quite well in recent weeks, and Mike Pennel, Rontez Miles and Terrence Brooks all played fewer snaps than they usually do. Perhaps it would be a good idea to feature some of these players more on Thursday night, and maybe that's something they had in mind with their rotations on Sunday.
