Now Commenting On:

The Jets officially announced their first external signing of the free agency signing period, former Seahawks tackle Breno Giacomini.

The 28-year old started 12 games last season for the Super Bowl champion Seahawks, including all three playoff games.

As we reported yesterday, the Jets were interested in signing Giacomini to replace the departing Austin Howard as starting right tackle. According to a team source, he was at the premises this morning and the fact nothing had been leaked all day about him leaving the premises or arranging any further vists was obviously a good sign.

Giacomini is solid in pass protection and the Seahawks typically posted good numbers when rushing to his side. He worked well in zone blocking packages which could be a direction the Jets move towards even more next season. General manager John Idzik should be more than familiar with him from his time in Seattle.

This might not be the news the Jets were hoping to hear, but it's a solid signing. From what we hear, more moves could be in the pipeline, so stay tuned to TJB for the latest updates.
