Now Commenting On:

The NFL has created a new Combine schedule that should add some attention and interest for players who won't be attending the standard Indianapolis Combine.

NFL Regional Combines serve as a supplement to the NFL’s National Scouting Combine and provide an opportunity for players to display their skills before veteran NFL talent evaluators.

“The NFL Regional Combines program provides players – who may not have had the chance before – the opportunity to work out for NFL personnel executives,” says NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Ray Anderson. “It allows all 32 clubs a chance to further evaluate future prospects.

It's a way for more unheralded players to get attention and another way for the NFL to fill the void of offseason programming.  I'm definitely interested in following it, but know that a big part of the reason is so that NFL Network can break up their offseason coverage more than it's about letting those lesser-known players get exposure.
