Jets GM Joe Douglas spoke Tuesday about the futures of Jamal Adams and Le'Veon Bell, being hopeful for Quincy Enunwa, pending free agent Robby Anderson and more at the NFL Combine.
Here are the takeaways...
Douglas wants Adams to be 'a Jet for life'
"We're excited about Jamal. The plan is for Jamal to be a Jet for life. We've had some preliminary talks with his agent -- not gonna get into the specifics of that. But again, the plan is for Jamal to be here a long time."
There hasn't been talk about trading Le'Veon Bell
There have been whispers about the Jets potentially trading Bell since shortly after he signed. But Douglas did his best Tuesday to try to put those rumors to rest. He also disagreed with the notion that Bell's play "declined," saying "we need to put him in good position to be as productive a he was in Pittsburgh."
As far as a potential trade is concerned...
"There hasn't been talk as far as him going anywhere," Douglas said. "We're excited about Le'Veon. Le'Veon has been a great teammate. I can't tell you how great he's been. ... we're excited to have him."
Is Robby Anderson a No. 1 receiver?
"I view Robby Anderson as a dynamic wide receiver that could take the top off any defense," Douglas said in response to whether he feels Anderson is a No. 1 receiver. "I think he has a skill trait that a lot of teams are looking for. He can run by anybody."
The latest on Quincy Enunwa
Enunwa, who is dealing with a neck injury that has put his future in doubt, has continued to rehab in recent weeks.
"Everything that I've gotten from our medical staff is that he's really been attacking his rehab and he's really been working hard through this process," Douglas said. "We're excited to get him with the doctors and see where he's at."
The Jets' offseason approach
"We're gonna have different tiers of free agents, what money they're gonna make," Douglas said. "But it's gonna be important for us to choose the right person. ... I think where we are, it's gonna be imperative that we get guys who can come in and be the right fit for us. And guys that can help us both short- and long-term."
