It's been a tough two weeks of the season for Jets linebacker Darron Lee, and head coach Todd Bowles wants to see more out of the second-year player.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and 231 pounds, Lee has looked overmatched at times during the Jets' first two games this year. So far Lee has 12 tackles and one sack. Against the Raiders, he had just five tackles.
"Situations are different. It's a matter of whether he's blitzing, what gap he's supposed to be in and what he's supposed to do,"Bowles said. "There are more guys involved in that play than you guys see, so he'll be fine. Linebackers hit and shed big linemen every-day all-day. That's their job."
Lee might be a bit undersized for the inside linebacker, but Bowles said he isn't concerned with that aspect of his game.
"There are 230 pound linebackers in the league every day. Darron is fine," Bowles said. "It's not singling out Darron. We have a lot of guys not playing the run very well, so you can take that as you wish."
