Now Commenting On:

Even though it's fairly clear Geno Smith will be the Jets starting QB, veteran Michael Vick is still looking for a few more years to add to his career (Daily News, July 31).

“I want to play until I’m 40,” Vick said after practice on Thursday.

And while Smith has been taking charge, Vick is happy to take on his new role as a mentor - but that doesn't mean he's not still gunning for some game time as well.

“You never envision yourself being in this role [when you’re younger],” Vick said. “But as you grow older, you start to [realize] it’s inevitable. You know it’s going to happen. At the same time, I just try to keep myself in shape and keep trying to be the best that I can be, because you never know what can happen.”
