The firing of Jets head coach Todd Bowles on Sunday was hardly a surprise, but the news was still disappointing to hear for many of his players.
Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold said that it is "not something you want to deal with" in your first year in the leauge.
"It is what it is," Darnold added. "Just got to move forward and see individually as players on offense and defense how we can improve from here."
LB Avery Williamson said the news "hurt" him.
"When I saw it I was definitely hurt by it," he said. "I like coach Bowles, he's a good guy, good coach but he'll be alright."
WR Quincy Enunwa has spent his entire NFL tenure with Bowles and was also sad to see him go.
"It's unfortuante for me. I've been here four years -- his whole time he's been here," he said. "You never want to see a guy lose his job. We understand it's a business and nobody is happy about it."
