The Week 11 Power Rankings are out as yesterday.  See who's saying what about the Jets.

Comments: The Jets rushed for a season-high 198 yards in a Week 9 win over the Saints. Don't change the approach, as the previous high came against Week 11 opponent Buffalo.

Prisco's Comments: They come out of their bye week with a real shot to be a factor in the playoff race. Can they get some consistency?

FOX Sports Power Rankings: 12th (14th)

Billick's Comments: I've been down on the Jets for most of the season, but the way I see it, the Jets make the playoffs as the 6th seed.

NBC Sports / PFT Power Rankings: 11th (14th)

Florio's Comments: Adversity only kicks the Jets’ ass in the even weeks.

Schwab's Comments: Look at the 4-5 teams in the AFC. Look at the teams below them. I don't love the Jets but they're the No. 6 seed now, and can anyone beat them? Power Rankings: 15th (17th)

Harrison's Comments: It was bye week for New York, which -- between Jake Locker going down for the season and the Chargers falling to the Broncos in San Diego -- can really make a move toward the playoffs over the next few weeks. Next up: the struggling Bills, whom Rex Ryan's squad already handled in September.[/sny-box]

It is a bit ironic that for the first time this season, the Jets entered the top 12 in many rankings -- and did so on their bye.  It was a wacky weekend in the NFL and a number of key losses in the AFC have set this up for the Jets as they got some R&R.  The Jets appear to have the inside track, but it's still up to the Jets to win four or five more games to get into the playoffs.

If the Jets can steady out over the second half of the season and get more consistent production (and less turnovers) from their offense, then this is a team that other AFC teams won't want to play come January.  The Jets have dealt with injuries and talent issues on offense and worked with a rookie quarterback, but the team has been buoyed by their embarrassment of riches on the defensive line.

Sure, teams like the Panthers and Ravens will be tough outs for the Jets over the last seven weeks, but if the Jets can go slightly above .500 their chances of going to the playoffs appear good.  As we've been saying, the Jets final seven game schedule is vastly easier than many of their wildcard contenders like the Chargers, Titans and Ravens.  The Ravens seem the most likely challenger, which makes the Jets matchup in Baltimore in two weeks as a potentially defining moment for both teams.
