Coming into the season, the Jets felt they had a whole revamped squad on their hands that could contend: A star running back, some added help on defense, a new head coach and a second-year quarterback set for a potential breakout season.

But instead, the Jets are sitting in an 0-4 hole with their starting QB sidelined and their offense absolutely reeling as the weeks wane on. New York could barely muster up any offense Sunday against the Eagles and ultimately fell 31-6.

Third-string quarterback turned starter Luke Falk had another rough outing, going 15-26 (57 percent) for 120 yards and zero touchdowns. Falk also turned the ball over three times, throwing two interceptions and losing one of two fumbles on the day.

Falk was held out of practice almost all week and finally took reps on Friday prior to Sunday's game in Philadelphia, so add that to him already really being a third-string quarterback, and the final product isn't too surprising.

But at the same time, this week could've and should've been different. The Jets lost Quincy Enunwa prior to the season, so it is understandable that it might take a couple of weeks for the team to adjust its offense.

But it's Week 5 now. The Jets got Demaryius Thomas back from injury this week and still had Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder to spread things around in the air, and yet they were unable to get things going.

"It's more repetitions," Thomas said after the game to SNY's Jeane Coakley. "Guys being dependable and accountable and basically owning up and doing their job better. ...I know I can be better, so that's the main thing for me right now, is getting better and hopefully everyone around me and the team get better."

It's the nonexistent passing threat that has ultimately also hurt the running game--and for the most part, hurt Le'Veon Bell.

He's took a year off, but Bell is a three-time Pro Bowler and three time 1,000-plus yard runner. And yet, Bell hasn't broken 70 yards rushing in a game this season.

He's getting the touches--he's averaging just under 18 carries a game so far this season-- but the defense zones in on him right away because there is no fear in their minds on what might come from the passing game.

"Anytime I get an opportunity to make a play, I've got to make the play," Bell said after the game. "I think I could've played better today. If everyone in the locker room don't feel the sam way, they shouldn't be here.

This offense looks to make a big change once Sam Darnold returns to the lineup in the next couple of weeks. His presence alone should open up things for Bell to work with, and he is a much better pass thrower then Luke Falk, so even if they receivers aren't playing up to par, Darnold is talented enough to raise their level of play down the stretch of these last 12 weeks of play.
