Now Commenting On:

In the past, players like David Harris, Sione Pouha and Brad Smith have all garnered mentions in USA Today's All-Joe awards, and this year, Jets defensive linemen Mo Wilkerson made USA Today's All-Joe list.

Muhammad Wilkerson (Jets): An unbelievable run stopper and improving pass rusher, his 69 tackles were tops among NFL linemen who didn't win defensive MVP (Watt).

Interesting enough, former Jet OL Rob Turner also made the All-Joe list with the Rams.  He's a player that we never understood why the Jets didn't do more to try and keep ...

As far as Wilkerson?  While Watt's season overshadowed any other 3-4 DE play, Wilkerson was the league's second best player at the spot aside from Watt.  While of course it would be nice to have Watt on the Jets, it's good to know just how dominant Wilkerson can be and while the 2012 season left a lot to be desired, Wilkerson's season did make it all a little more bearable.

It's going to be very fun to watch him mature and get better over the next few years and then to watch how his play will bring along that of Quinton Coples, who showed some flashes in 2012 as a rookie.  If the Jets finally draft an outside linebacker in the first few rounds of the NFL draft, this group is going to get scary very quickly.
