For Pouha, who played Sunday against the 49ers, he was outside during the portion of practice open to the media but left to go inside the team's facility, which is a never a good sign. His status will become more clear over the next two days. It's not good news for the Jets if Pouha can't go. He has been a big part of the Jets run defense, and his ability to take double teams makes the work easier for those around him. This season he's been trying to play through injuries and it's not gone well for the Jets defensive unit as a whole. If holding Pouha out might be a better long-term help to the Jets, then maybe it's for the best, but Kenrick Ellis is going to have to step up regardless. Ellis was drafted to be the eventual replacement for Pouha, this is his time to start to step into that role.
Of course for the Jets, this means that they're going to have to do their best to work around what's normally a strength for the unit. That might mean more of Quinton Coples and more four man fronts.
