The XFL has announced the eight new team names and logos for its inaugural season.
It will be the New York Guardians that will represent the tri-state area with what looks to be a charcoal grey and red as their team colors. Here are the rest of the teams...
The XFL is looking to kick off their season in February 2020, right after the NFL season will come to an end. The league debuted back in 2001 and that was the only season it would have before it collapsed.
It was controlled by the WWF during that time, and it will still have those ties with owner Vince McMahon running the show. Oliver Luck (pictured above) will serve as the league's commissioner.
McMahon is looking to make the XFL's gameplay look more like the NFL, yet still embody some of the rules that it once did to separate itself from that league back in 2001.
For example, fair catches are not recognized in the XFL, but the kicking team must give the returner at least five yards of space to recover the ball. And like most flag football leagues, extra points following a touchdown will be one, two, or three points depending on how far back the scoring team wants to attempt it.
It will be interesting to see if this new XFL will thrive under its reconstruction.
