In ESPN draft expert Todd McShay's newest mock draft, the Giants are projected to nab Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert.

The Fighting Irish have produced some of the better NFL-caliber tight ends in recent years, including Kyle Rudolph of the Minnesota Vikings, as well Anthony Fasano of the Miami Dolphins and John Carlson, also with the Vikings.

The Giants' tight end situation is a bit?murky?with Martellus Bennett a free agent this off-season.

According to Adam Schefter, tight end John Carlson has signed with the Vikings. The deal is worth $25 million over five years.

Carlson was seen as a possibility for the Giants, but this deal seems like a bit much for a guy who missed all of the 2011 season due to injury. If Carlson, who is considered a poor blocker, got this type of contract, the Giants may have top open their checkbooks to sign Martellus Bennett.
