Spano and Milbury didn't get along much during Spano's four month stint as owner. On last night's 'Big Shot' on ESPN, Spano and Milbury fought about whose decision it was for Milbury to step down as coach. Milbury said it was his own personal realization that he couldn't handle being both GM and coach while Spano said he fired him from coaching duties. One of their back and forths is below, but first, a word from Spano on Twitter:https://twitter.com/MrJohnSpano/status/392817437248610305From last night's 'Big Shot' on ESPN:[sny-box]Milbury: "First of all I thought he was moody as hell. He was up and down like you can't believe."Spano: "Mike of course was GM and coach. Mike was...uh... [laughs]"Milbury: "He could be high and mighty and little bit arrogant and a little bit scary cause he came in in these brooding type moods so you didn't know what you were getting."Spano: "Mike's a very intense individual."Kevin Connolly: "You would have to agree that Mike Milbury is super passionate about hockey."Spano: "Mike's very passionate about one thing, you're right, but it's Mike Milbury."Milbury: "There were some uncomfortable moments, plenty of them, with John.Spano: "We had those issues where I'm thinking, he's gonna hit me with my own shoe [laughs]."[/sny-box]

The ESPN 30 for 30 film 'Big Shot' about John Spano's fradulent purchase of the Islanders premieres tonight at 8pm on ESPN (questionably scheduled during an Islander game, no less). For those of you in Canada, you'll have to wait a bit. It will debut on TSN2 at 1pm on November 2nd. Over the weekend, Spano talked about what happened with his purchase of the club and his thoughts on how he was portrayed in the film on Champions Radio 107.1/96.9FM. Spano on Coliseum revenue and the move to Brooklyn (remember Spano actually got the TV deal extended):"It's a terrible lease. The revenue doesn't go to the team, the majority of it goes to the people who manage the facility. For the short time I was there I was able to get some... [parking and concession revenue] coming back. It's very, very difficult. The only revenue you're really going to get out of that building are the attendance, the suites and the advertising. In this day and age it's very difficult to compete. It's almost impossible."And on what he wants to happen now:"My preference is that in a week or two this all dies down and I go back to being me."Check out the full audio of the interview after the jump:

Actor and Islanders fan Kevin Connolly has been working on a documentary for ESPN on John Spano, the fraud who bought the Islanders in the mid-90s. The film was first announced back in August and is ready to premiere on April 19th at the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival in New York City, according to the Hollywood Reporter:

[sny-box]The lineup includes the world premiere of Big Shot, directed by Kevin Connolly, will serve as the gala premiere April 19. Connolly is returning to Tribeca having debuted his feature, Gardener of Eden, in 2007.

Added Connelly: "I've always thought the expression ?passion project? was kind of a cliche until I started working on Big Shot for ESPN. Working side by side and spending time with guys that I literally grew up idolizing has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The whole experience, including having the film premiere in New York at the festival, has been a dream come true.?[/sny-box]

In 2009, ESPN debuted its 30 for 30 sports documentary series which on the whole was an entertaining bit of television. Following that, ESPN plans to release more documentaries in the same style over the coming year(s?).

As we discussed a few months ago, Legendary Fraud John Spano is going to be a subject for one of the films. We got an email note from ESPN asking for fan submissions, which is passed on below. From the looks of it, it seems like the film may expand a bit and focus more on the Islanders as a whole as they're looking for historical footage, not just from the Spano era. Or maybe they just need some B roll.

Islanders Fans!
