The Jets announced Tuesday that they've placed CB Trumaine Johnson and WR Josh Bellamy on Injured Reserve.

Johnson, who played in seven games this season (five starts), had 25 tackles, two passes defended and one interception on the season before being placed on IR. He exited the Jets' loss to the Jaguars in Week 8 with an ankle injury and did not play in their loss to the Dolphins this week.

Based on his play for the team over the last two seasons and how his contract is set up, it isn't too far off to believe that Johnson will not suit up in a Jets uniform again.

The Jets have ruled out starting cornerback Trumaine Johnson and center Ryan Kalil for the team's Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Johnson suffered an ankle injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8 and has not practiced all week. While Kalil is dealing with knee and elbow injuries, and has not practiced all week as well. He played just 26 snaps (43 percent) in Week 7 and 32 snaps (55 percent) in Week 8 after playing in almost every one of the Jets offensive snaps through the first six weeks of the season.

C.J. Mosley is expected to miss 5-6 weeks with a groin injury, while wide receiver Josh Bellamy (foot and shoulder) and safety Rontez Miles (neck and hip) were also ruled out for Week 9.

The Jets took a step in the right direction as quarterback Sam Darnold returned to practice Wednesday, but New York's injury report remained cluttered with key players on both sides.

While the Jets' starter recovers from mononucleosis with an eye on a return at some point in October as the day-to-day recovery continues, linebackers CJ Mosley (groin) and Jordan Jenkins (calf) were among those held out.

While neither Darnold nor Mosley has not played since Sept. 8's 17-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the season opener, Jenkins missed Sept. 22's 30-14 loss to the New England Patriots.
