Kael Mouillierat

Kael Mouillierat may have scored the AHL's goal of the year on Sunday.

The Sound Tigers' center, who made his NHL debut in February with the Islanders, scored a lacrosse style goal during Bridgeport's 7-1 win over the Binghamton?Senators. The goal came 2:19 into the first period of the matinee contest. Sebastian Colberg missed the net on a shot and the puck found its' way to the stick of Kevin Czuczman. The Sound Tiger defenseman sent the puck to Mouillierat behind the net and that's when he scored.

Tuesday's win over the Arizona Coyotes will be one Kael Mouillierat won't soon forget.?

The Islanders were ahead 3-1 midway through the third period when Colin McDonald fed Mouillierat in the slot. The rookie then proceeded to fire a shot past Mike Smith and into the net for his first National Hockey League goal. He also gave the Islanders the 4-1 lead.

"It's obviously a pretty unbelievable feeling," Mouillierat said about his first goal. "You play so long and especially at my age to get your first crack at the NHL. There's times in the minors when you think it's never going to happen and then when it does it's pretty incredible. It's obviously a great feeling."

WASHINGTON -- Kael Mouillierat saw 9:07 of ice time in his first NHL on Saturday against the Washington Capitals. When the Islanders host the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday there is a chance Mouillierat gets more ice time.

"I really like the way that he played down low," Islanders head coach Jack Capuano said. "He's not afraid to use his body, came up with a big block in the third period. We knew he was good defensively, but I just liked the way he held on to the puck... He did a lot of good things offensively, so for me tomorrow night I'll give him so more minutes."

The 27-year-old was obviously excited about his first NHL game and was understandably somewhat nervous.
