It's going to be a busy, argumentative and stressful offseason. I can see it coming a mile away. There is plenty of reason to be hopeful because of the young rotation. However, because of their injuries, and the team being home on Oct. 6, it feels like the Mets took a step in the wrong direction during 2016.

Therefore, there will be lots of pressure this winter (inside and outside the organization) to be sure they're in a much better position when they hit Port St. Lucie, Florida in four months.

Mets 2B Neil Walker is scratched from the Mets lineup for the third day in a row due to lower back stiffness.

Update, Aug. 18:

Walker was scratched from Thursday's series opener in San Francisco for the third day in a row because of lower back stiffness. Terry Collins said the medical staff does not believe Walker needs to go on the disabled list. He's with the team in San Francisco but prepared to go to Pittsburgh should his wife go into labor.

Previous Reports

"Anytime it's the lower back, it's day to day," Terry Collins told reporters Wednesday in Arizona. "He wanted to play and I said, 'Not today.' I don't need this to tighten up. Due to the weather we have been playing in, these guys have been sweating a lot and the last thing we need is for his back to knot up."
