Ja Morant may not be a lock to the Grizzlies at No. 2 overall in the NBA Draft.
ESPN is reporting that the Grizzlies are "sending out some mixed messages" after previously making it known that they intended to select Morant. Another ESPN report says Morant will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday, from which the Murray State standout is expected to recover in three-to-four weeks.
Memphis reportedly requested a private workout with Duke's RJ Barrett, who's been considered the likely No. 3 pick to the Knicks. Barrett declined but may reconsider, per ESPN.
It all adds more intrigue with less than three weeks to go until the NBA Draft. The only certainty seems to be that New Orleans, after winning the NBA Draft Lottery, will pick Zion Williamson No. 1 overall.
Regardless of who's available to the Knicks at No. 3, there's a possibility they use that player in a trade package to try to acquire Anthony Davis from the Pelicans.
Barrett's longtime coach Dwayne Washington told SNY's Ian Begley that Barrett "wants New York."
