“I’m hoping to get out there this week, get a couple of practices under my belt and try to get ready for this opener.,” Camby said. “I’m excited to get back out there. I want to play if possible but I know I haven’t really been out there. I’m shooting to get out there Thursday.’’
Most likely, the Knicks will be without Camby and go with a still-deep frontcourt of Tyson Chandler, Kurt Thomas, Rasheed Wallace and training-camp sensation Chris Copeland. Even without Camby and Ama’re Stoudemire, who is out indefinitely, the Knicks aren’t dead.NY Post
The Knicks have been very shaky on the glass during the preseason and they desperately need big rotation minutes from Camby, who is a proven rebounding machine on both sides of the ball.
The Knicks have improved offensively in my opinion. They have more depth at the guard position, more players who can hit shots, and Anthony's ability to get to the foul line. If Amar'e Stoudemire can get back healthy and not only make that mid-range but also get to the stripe with Anthony's volume, the Knicks will be fine offensively. Defensively, I like their make up and on ball pressure, but they need Camby and the bench back court to close out possessions. Simply put, Camby's presence in the lineup makes a huge difference, and is critical for any success for the Knicks moving forward.
