Knicks F Carmelo Anthony revealed why New York will always have a special place in his heart, per NY Daily News' Zachary Ripple.
Sports Illustrated shared a video where Anthony speaks on his New York City roots and how it has shaped his career. The 15-year veteran has spent six years with the Knicks, but he admits it hasn't felt that way.
"It don't feel like 6-and-a-half years," Anthony said. "It's a long time, it's a long time."
Anthony could be out of New York by the start of the season as it is well known the Knicks are looking to trade him. The team left out their star player in their ad for season tickets as Kristaps Porzinigis, Willy Hernangomez, and Frank Ntilikina were featured in the photo.
Whether or not the Knicks and Anthony part ways, New York will always be a part of Melo.
"I'll always be a part of this community, regardless of where I'm at," Anthony said. "I will always come back here, I will always have business here, I will always have family here."
"Those things will never change, so I will always be tied to New York."
In six seasons with the Knicks, Anthony has averaged 24.7 points, seven rebounds, and 3.2 assists while shooting 44.3 percent from the field in 412 games.
