For the second game in a row, the Knicks hurt themselves with turnovers and have something immediate to address if they hope to win their first game of the season before October ends.

The Knicks followed up a 26-turnover performance against the Nets Friday night with a similar showing just a day later, turning the ball over 25 times in Saturday's loss to the Celtics in the home opener.

"Our offense, we turned the ball over too much," David Fizdale said after the game. "That's two games in a row that we're just, you know, the carelessness with the ball just got [the Celtics] out in the open court.

"Once you get a few layups, that rim just gets big and you can see everything they threw up after that just went in. ...Once it's rolling, it's rolling."

With four of the five starters having four or more turnovers and overall combining for 19 in the game, Fizdale needs the group to reset themselves and take care of the ball with much more urgency.

The Knicks fell in the final minutes of Friday night's game and were tied with Boston late in the third quarter, but New York just couldn't get out of its own way with the turnovers.

"I think we are trying to take turns right now and we end up forcing situations, and team defenses aren't going to just let you go one-on-one and attack that way. You've got to move the ball," Fizdale said.

The Knicks will see the Celtics again this upcoming Friday in Boston, so we'll see how different the offense looks--and more importantly, how well they handle the ball.
