Former Knicks legend Charles Oakley worked hard to have a successful career in the NBA, while owner James Dolan's life has been the almost the exact opposite, says The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski in a video essay.
After the recent controversy at Madison Square Garden between Dolan and Oakley, Wojnarowski takes a brief look into their lives.
"Dolan has nothing in common with Charles Oakley -- a self-made man of the people, an authentic American success story who never needed his old man's money to buy his way into the hearts of Knicks fans in the city," Wojnarowski says.
Dolan has banned Oakley from MSG for the incident, though the ban might not necessarily last forever.
There's no need to directly compare Dolan's time owning the Knicks to Oakley's NBA tenure. Still, what happened this week with one of the all-time favorites to don orange and blue is incredibly unfortunate. Banning Oakley is a very quick way to isolate the fan base and irk some of the most talented individuals around the NBA.
