Now Commenting On:

The Knicks defeated the Hawks tonight by a score of 111 to 106.

[sny-box]The Least You Should Know:

Carmelo Anthony and Andrea Bargnani led the way with 35 and 23 points respectively.

Tim Hardaway Jr. outplayed by Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith and played over them during crucial minutes in the 4th quarter.

The game was controlled mostly by the Knicks outside of a brief stretch in the third quarter when Kyle Korver got hot from behind the arc.

Anthony played almost the entire game (38 minutes), sitting for only a few brief stretches.

The Atlanta Hawks were their own worst enemies, turning the ball over nearly 30 times in the game. Paul Millsap had 9 of those turnovers.[/sny-box]

This was a great performance by the Knicks. We can say anything we'd like about the Knicks season but tonight it was different. Carmelo Anthony had a fantastic game, putting up 35 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists but the rest of the team contributed immensely.

Tim Hardaway Jr. was really the story of the night. With Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith struggling immensely, Hardaway Jr. came off the bench to score 12 points, including a three pointer and an emphatic slam off of one of the Hawks 27 turnovers. He played well and was rewarded with minutes late in the 4th quarter as Mike Woodson sat Smith in favor of Shumpert and Hardaway Jr. This is a situation that should be monitored closely in the coming days. If the rookie is outplaying the other two, he has to get minutes.

Andrea Bargnani scored 23 points on 11 for 16 from the field. That type of efficiency from Bargnani is just spectacular. Speaking of spectacular, Amare Stoudemire was unsure if he'd play tonight. He came off the bench and was effective if only to provide some incredible energy. The entire team seems to feed off of him when he enters the game and his 9 points and 5 rebounds weren't too shabby either.

It's always nice to see the team playing this well, spreading the ball around and watching your superstar absolutely dominate. Anthony was magical tonight and it is on nights like this that you remember why you need him.

The Knicks have an off day on Sunday before welcoming in the Washington Wizards on Monday at 7:30pm.
