The All-Star break is almost here and the Knicks have one more game before sending Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, James White and Steve Novak to Houston for the festivities.

The Toronto Raptors are in town tonight to take on the Knicks and have been through some changes that have really done them a lot of good recently.

The Raptors were apart of a three team deal with the Grizzlies and Pistons that saw them acquire Rudy Gay from Memphis and send Jose Calderon to Detroit. Since that trade, things have been better in Toronto. They are 6-6 in their last 12 and 3-2, with a three game winning streak, since Gay was acquired.

With Gay, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry in the lineup, the team speed for the Raptors has improved greatly and their offense has scored over 100 points in each of their wins during this winning streak.

With the Knicks seemingly having trouble with any team that has a knack for going up and down the floor with speed, this is a match up tonight that can be a bit of an issue.

With Raymond Felton on Lowry and Iman Shumpert to most likely start on Rudy Gay, you wonder how those two, who have struggled defensively since both returned from injury, will play tonight.

For the Knicks on offense, what could be a good match up for them is whomever is going to guard Carmelo Anthony. Gay and DeRozan are not strong enough to handle his post game and Amir Johnson should not be able to stay in front of Melo for long.

Plus after a horrible outing on Sunday, I want to see what the response from the bench guys, especially J.R. Smith and Steve Novak will be. The bench is such a key for the Knicks to keep the momentum going or build the momentum after the starters take their first break. There have been times this bench has been the reason the Knicks won games this year.

This is a game that normally the Knicks would be the easy favorite, especially since the game is at MSG and the Raptors are on the second game of a back to back while the Knicks had two days off.

But, the improvement by the Raptors since bringing in Gay and their overall speed, as mentioned above, could give the Knicks plenty of trouble tonight before they get some rest during the All-Star break.

We will see how it all unfolds and hope the Knicks can head into the break on a high note and finish off what can be described as a very successful first half of the season.

P.S. Once a Knick, Always a Knick Landry Fields returns to the Garden tonight after crossing the border to become the mastermind behind the theft of about 20 million dollars from the Raptors.

Five Questions About Tonight's Game

  1. Will the Knicks be able to handle the Raptors team speed?
  2. How badly will Carmelo Anthony torch whomever the Raptors send to guard him?
  3. Which big man off the bench has a better game? Amar'e or Bargnani?
  4. Can the Knicks bench bounce back from a poor performance against the Clippers?
  5. Will either team play this game at a sub-par level since the All-Star break is up next?

Most likely scenarios for Melo 00:01:26
SNY.tv discusses the four most likely scenarios for Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony heading into training camp.

Jake Brown | Twitter | The story that has surrounded the Knicks all offseason has been Carmelo Anthony. Will he somehow stay with the Knicks or will he go to a contender? Most people believe a deal will eventually get done, either before the season or sometime during the season.

Anthony has made it pretty clear that he wants to go to the Houston Rockets. In fact, according to Frank Isola of the NY Daily News, Melo and his camp are "cautiously optimistic" a deal could get done before Monday. If not, next week could be a circus.

The issue will continue to be whether the Rockets are the right trade partner for the Knicks. If not, the dilemma becomes Anthony accepting going elsewhere, which seems like a lost cause right now.

"I mean, he's cut up. He's got 25 abs right now," Beasley said, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. "He's in shape. Y'all know he's strong as hell."

Noah, who has been practicing and working out at the Knicks' training facility, will be suspended for the first 12 games of the season following his failed drug test last season.

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Jarrett Jack could play many roles with the Knicks this season.

Or he could play none at all.

If Jack, 33, is fully healthy after recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus in 2016 with the Nets, he could potentially be the team's starting point guard.

Beasley is introduced as a Knick 00:00:55
Michael Beasley is formally introduced to the media as a new member of the New York Knicks.

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Michael Beasley says he "would love New York to be my home," but he's not here to replace Carmelo Anthony.

The 28-year-old Beasley, a former No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft, signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Knicks in August for the NBA's veteran minimum. Some speculate that he was brought in as a primary scorer -- something he's always done well -- in the event the Knicks trade Anthony. But he says that isn't the case.

"I don't think of that at all," Beasley, who has career averages of 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds, said Tuesday at the Knicks' training facility. "I don't know what's going on. I don't watch anybody else's saga but my own and I'm looking forward to playing with Carmelo. Anything else is the organization and the coaches and him but I'm looking forward to having a great year with Melo and finally making the playoffs."

The Knicks have enough point guards going into training camp for an entire starting lineup, with the addition of veteran Jarrett Jack leaving the team with five point guards on the roster. That means a few things.

For one, if anybody gets hurt or is ineffective, they have options. Having options and depth is never really a bad thing. This also means we're going to see times where the Knicks go with two true point guards in the backcourt at the same time off the bench. Let's take a look at the five point guards on the roster and what each of them will bring to the table in the 2017-2018 season...

It has been a wild ride to the NBA for the Knicks' newest G Damyean Dotson after sexual assault allegations in college almost ruined his dream.

Dotson initially attended Oregon to start his collegiate career. However, it would end after two years when an 18-year-old claimed Dotson, along with teammates Dominic Artis and Brandon Austin, sexually assaulted her at a party in March 2014. No charges were filed due to insufficient evidence, but the three were expelled from Oregon for violating the student conduct code.

Dotson would spend the next year at Houston Community College, and took anger management classes at the John Lucas Center and Wellness Program.

"His story is that of a comeback," John Lucas told The Post's Zach Braziller. "There are obviously people that got hurt. He has a second chance to get a first chance right."

He may not be the Carmelo Anthony from his prime, but Warriors F Draymond Green doesn't believe Melo should have been ranked the 64th best player in the NBA.

ESPN released their latest Top 100 rankings of players in the NBA, and Anthony fell drastically to No. 64. Green admits Melo's play isn't the same as it was years before, but his drop in the rankings is not right.

"I think when you look at Melo, Melo has been a great player in this league for some time now," Green told ESPN.com. "Obviously I think no one thinks that he's the Melo he was five years ago, and that happens to everyone. That's just the nature of the career that we've all chosen."

"At some point, you start to slow down and you're not who you once were. So, I'm not going to sit here and lie and act like he is the Melo he was five years ago, but the 64th-best player in the NBA? All right, five years ago he was maybe sixth. He ain't f-ing 64 [now]."

Portland Trail Blazers star PG Damian Lillard admitted to having a hard time recruiting Knicks SF Carmelo Anthony to waive his no-trade clause.

This offseason, several teams have tried to lure Anthony to waive his no-trade clause to join their team including the Blazers. However, Lillard told The Undefeated that it is hard to change Melo's mind.

"I didn't want to press him," Lillard said. "I ain't a big fan of doing all the extra recruiting and all that stuff. And I guess they call it tampering or whatever. It's not against the rules for us to interact with each other."

"We all peers, we all play in the same league and everybody hints at playing with each other. 'What you think about this?' 'What do you think about that?' All that matters is whether it got done or did not get done. Or hasn't got done, and it hasn't got done. So, it is what it is."

Fomer Knicks president and coach, Isiah Thomas, doesn't believe former Knicks president Phil Jackson's legacy has been hurt due to his inability to win in New York.

Thomas, who currently serves as the presiden to the WNBA's New York Liberty, knows how hard it is to win in New York having had a tough time with the Knicks in his tenure. With Jackson hailed as one of the greatest coaches of all time, Thomas doesn't see his stint in New York tarnishing all he has accomplished in the game.

The Knicks were among several teams to make an offer for Irving, the 25-year-old former No. 1 draft pick, however New York was unwilling to trade Kristaps Porzingis as part of a deal and the Cavaliers wanted a package of younger talent and draft picks as opposed to Carmelo Anthony, whose name was among the rumors.

The Knicks are interested in signing free agent guards Jarrett Jack and Archie Goodwin, reports ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk

According to Youngmisuk, New York would like to add some "veteran presence" to the team, both on and off the court. In June, the Knicks selected 18-year-old French star Frank Ntilikina with their pick in the first-round on the NBA Draft.

Any chance of the team adding Kyrie Irving in a trade with the Cavaliers fell through when Cleveland sent the guard to the Celtics in a deal on Tuesday night.

Knicks first-rounder Frank Ntilikina didn't find any respect from his fellow rookies as he didn't earn one vote in any category during the NBA rookie photo shoot.

All rookies were allowed to take a survey to vote on categories like "Rookie of the Year," "Best Shooter," and "Most Athletic." Ntilikina, the No. 8 overall pick this past June, didn't reserve a single vote in any category.

The man picked by the Mavericks after Ntilikina, Dennis Smith Jr., was voted Rookie of the Year and Most Athletic by the rookies. Utah Jazz's Donovan Mitchell Jr., who the Knicks were interested in, won "steal of the draft."

LeBron James in New York? 00:01:25
In the latest installment of JRSportBrief on SNY.tv, JR reacts to Blake Griffin's comments about LeBron James joining the New York Knicks.

LeBron James didn't kill the idea that he could look toward the Knicks as a possible destination if he were to become a free agent next season.

In an interview with TMZ, the Cavs forward didn't have a response to comments that Clippers' F Blake Griffin said about James going to New York before L.A.

Jake Brown | Twitter |

Blake Griffin is taking a guess here with nothing being told to him from LeBron James. Madison Square Garden is still a magical place even if the team playing in it is lousy -- there's no doubting that. And the Knicks will probably be one of the teams LeBron thinks about going to. The problem is he's got a home in Los Angeles. He's also got two options there in the Lakers and Clippers, along with Hollywood...

Small forward Jamel Artis was not selected by a team in the NBA Draft, but he's getting a key opportunity to make his mark with the Knicks after the team signed him to a partially guaranteed deal last week.

The 24-year-old Artis, who participated in the Knicks' summer league campaign, worked out with coach Jeff Hornacek individually once the summer schedule was complete.

Knicks C Joakim Noah understands his mistakes and is ready to have a bounce back season in 2017, per The Post's Marc Berman

Noah's first season with the Knicks was not how he wanted it to go. Between poor play, knee surgery, and a 20-game suspension for a banned substance, he feels he let the team -- especially former team president Phil Jackson -- down.

The Knicks' newest pickup, SF Michael Beasley, wants people to have more respect for his game as he heads to New York.

The former No. 2 overall pick believes his lack of minutes on the floor has warranted misconceptions about his game. Beasley told The Post's Marc Berman that if his time on the court increases, he will show the world that he can still bring the game that landed him a top draft pick.

"I'll bring what they saw in college," Beasley said, reminiscing his days of stardom at Kansas State. "I just need the opportunity to show that. Look at my nine-year career, I've always been close to a point a minute. I've always been a walking bucket. Nobody can stop me, hasn't stopped me my last nine years. Every time I've touched the ball, the defender's scared. I'm at the point of my career I'm just tired of not getting the acknowledgement of being who I am."

The Knicks' players voted F Carmelo Anthony "Best Teammate" as part of the NBPA awards on Friday, per NY Daily News' Stefan Bondy

Every player in the NBA was allowed to vote for one player on their team for each award, and an overall winner of the category. Anthony is well-liked in the Knicks' locker room, and F Kristaps Porzingis recently backed those claims saying he loves him as a teammate.

However, Anthony and the Knicks are obviously looking to part ways as the two sides have made that point clear this offseason. Robin Lopez, who won the teammate award last season with the Knicks was dealt to the Bulls in the Derrick Rose deal in 2016.

The Knicks have reached an agreement to sign G Jamel Artis, reports Ian Begley of ESPN, who said the team was impressed by how Artis played during the Summer League.

Artis, 24, said in July that he was ready to seize a "major opportunity" with the Knicks after going undrafted out of Pittsburgh.

I still think I bring any asset that any player that got drafted [offers]," Artis told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I should have gotten drafted. But I'm in a good position right now with the Knicks. I'm in a great position, actually. I can only be thankful and grateful for the position I'm in now. I've just got to go out there and play hard."
