Julius Randle has withdrawn from USA Basketball's World Cup training camp, USA Basketball announced Saturday. The 24-year old left the camp to deal with what is being termed a "family matter."
Team USA will being training camp on Monday with what is now a 15-man roster and will also train with the USA Basketball Select Team, which includes Mitchell Robinson along with the Nets' Jarrett Allen and Joe Harris.
Team USA will hold camp at UNLV from Aug. 5-9, followed by three more days of training for the Select Team, who will play an exhibition game against Spain in Los Angeles on Aug. 16. They'll announce their oficial FIBA World Cup team on Aug. 17.
Randle now joins RJ Barrett as the second Knick to withdraw from consideration for a FIBA World Cup roster spot. Barrett is nursing a mild calf strain and opted to sit out the tournament for Team Canada.
Team USA will play a host of exhibition games in Australia in the second half of August before the tournament gets underway in China on Aug. 31.
