Now Commenting On:

Tyson Chandler has been playing like a grown man this winter, and it's about time he deserves the recognition.

Chandler notched his fifth double-double in the past eight games last night when he scored 15 points and hauled in 14 rebounds as the Knicks snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 118-106 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Knicks average 40.9 rebounds per game, which ranks 26th in the league. Chandler is responsible for one-quarter of those boards, and has averaged almost 15 per game since the start of the February.

Chandler has finished with double-digit rebounding totals nine consecutive games, including a season-high 23 against the Atlanta Hawks on Feb. 22 and a 22-rebound effort on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls.

During this span, Chandler has also been effective on the offensive end. Chandler has been averaging 11.5 points per game over the past eight contests, 2.0 more points than his season average (9.1 points per game). In the thick of things, he posted a season-high 19 points against the defending champion Miami Heat on Feb. 27. Last night, Chandler dropped a 15-spot against the front-court duo of Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic.
