Earlier rumors had the Knicks including Iman Shumpert's or Tim Hardaway Jr.'s name in the deal with Amar'e, but the team is likely unwilling to part with either of the younger players just to dump the larger contract elsewhere.
Stoudemire has $23.4 million remaining on his contract.
Let's put Stoudemire's magical little run last season behind us and remember the deteriorating knees he's playing on right now.
For some reason, the 76ers have interest in Stoudemire -- probably for his contract. If Philadelphia is willing to take on Stoudemire for this season, it's a blessing in disguise, allowing Phil Jackson to fill out the roster with a better contributor, not to mention shed some of that bloated salary.
The real question here is what Philly's motives are. They have interest in Jeremy Lin, too, and for the team that turned heads for all the wrong reasons in 2013-14 they seem to be mixing young, injured talent with low-quality veterans.
