Kristaps Porzingis is not the only one who is making progress.

Knicks guard Courtney Lee also began doing contact drills on Monday as he inches closer to returning to the court as he recovers from a neck strain.

Lee initially injured his neck in the preseason and has yet to play this season.

The 33-year-old veteran is in his third year of a four-year deal and is a candidate to be traded once fully healthy.

If the Knicks can find someone to take Lee, it would help clear the necessary cap space to allow them to offer a max contract to a free agent next summer.

Lee is also expendable because the Knicks have a handful of young guards, which includes Frank Ntilinka, Allonzo Trier, Trey Burke, Emmanual Mudiay, Damyean Dotson and Tim Hardaway Jr.

Last season, Lee averaged 10 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
