The Knicks will be without point guard Frank Ntilikina when they take on the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night, the team announced.
The third-year guard is dealing with a sore groin.
Veteran Reggie Bullock (illness) is listed as questionable.
Ntilikina is averaging 5.9 points and 3.0 assists per game this season in 44 games. He's playing an average of 21.0 minutes per game this season, but logged just three minutes against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
Interim head coach Mike Miller elected to play Dennis Smith Jr. instead of Ntilikina due to the team's back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"I thought Dennis played well. With the back-to-backs and playing against the quick guards that we're going to see the next two nights, we felt like this was a good time to give him a chance," Miller told reporters in Charlotte. "The game dictated that. To have a chance earlier in the game as opposed to coming in at the very end was a better situation, I think."
Smith Jr. had seven points with four rebounds and three assists in 15 minutes of action against the Hornets, while Elfrid Payton played 33 minutes and Bullock played 28 minutes.
