Knicks team president Steve Mills spoke for the entire organization on Tuesday when he offered condolences to Dennis Smith Jr. and Reggie Bullock, who both lost close family members.
"Our Knicks family is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of two of our players' close family members," the official statement read. "At times like this, we are reminded that life is bigger than basketball. Our thoughts are with them and their families."
The Knicks announced that Smith lost his stepmother, while Bullock lost his sister.
Smith didn't play in Monday night's win over the Bulls after learning of his stepmother's passing on Sunday. He has been away from the team since the news broke, and according to SNY's Ian Begley, he won't be flying with the team to Orlando for the game on Wednesday. His game status, then, is unknown.
As for Bullock, he was actually at the game on Monday night, though he is still working his way back to the team. This is tough for Bullock, as he also lost a sibling back in 2014.
