Kevin Durant is growing tired of the narrative surrounding him.

The Warriors forward has been sidelined with a calf strain but Golden State has still managed to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals against the Portland Trail Blazers without him.

Their success has reignited the theme that Durant rode the Warriors' coattails to two NBA Finals championships, despite being the MVP in both those Finals victories.

On Monday, Fox Sports Radio's Chris Broussard said that "Kevin Durant's worst nightmare is coming true" and suggested that a Warriors title without Durant would diminish the 30-year-old's two championship rings and that players around the league say they would put an asterisk next to Durant's Golden State titles.

Durant fired back.

"I see a little exaggeration there buddy, my worst nightmare?? U sure that this is the worst that it can get???" he tweeted.

Of course, there is a way for Durant to put an end to this narrative.

The 10-time All-Star is expected to become a free agent on July 1 and the Knicks are the leading team to land Durant.

Should Durant join the Knicks and lead New York to its first NBA title since 1973, he would prove that he did not need Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to win a championship and instantly be immortalized in New York as a savior who saved the franchise.

There is still a long ways to go before that can happen, but the latest reports have Durant recruiting guys to go to New York with him, which, naturally, came from Broussard.
