The Knicks plan to start Bobby Portis at center on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings in place of Mitchell Robinson, according to SNY's Ian Begley.
Head coach David Fizdale wanted to try out a lineup of Julius Randle and Portis, hoping to open the floor up for Randle on offense.
"This is much more about seeing if that combination (Randle and Portis) can continue to grow," Fizdale said.
Robinson had suffered a sprained left finger in the second half of the Knicks' loss on Friday night, but Fizdale mentioned the injury did not factor in to the decision.
Portis has started just one of the Knicks' six games this seson, while averaging 11.8 points and 8.0 rebounds in 25 minutes per game.
