Kerem Kanter, brother of Knicks C Enes Kanter, has worked out for the team ahead of the 2018 NBA Draft. Kerem is projected to be a second-round pick if he's drafted.
Kerem, 23, played for Xavier in his senior season after playing his first three years at Green Bay. He averaged 10.9 points and 4.5 rebounds in 16.7 minutes per game. He stands at 6'10" and is a skilled big man, though may not have the defensive prowess or athleticism to make it at the NBA level.
"I want to play at the next level, and the one thing that can hold me back is my speed and my strength," Kerem told Shannon Russell of The Athletic. "I wanted to work on my body as much as I can so I've been doing that."
If Kerem doesn't make it in the NBA, he plans to play in Europe-- but not his native Turkey, where Enes has had clashes with the government.
"I think if I happen to play overseas, I would want to play in Europe but I would not want to play in Turkey," Kerem said. "I would want to experience a new country and get to know their culture. It was a cool experience for me to come to the United States. I love it here. I learned the language and the culture. If I happen to go overseas, I'd want to go somewhere other than Turkey."
