It wasn't a good look for Team USA on Wednesday when they lost not one but two scrimmages to the LA Select Team, a group of fringe NBA and overseas players. And a few of those players dishing out the hurt have or had Knicks ties.
The LA Select Team, which was led by former Knicks head coach Jeff Van Gundy, delivered a 36-17 victory in one of those scrimmages. Team USA didn't look to be in sync, and silly turnovers were made throughout the 10-minute game.
Team USA may have had players like Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Anthony Davis back out. However, with stars like Kemba Walker, Khris Middleton, and Jaysom Tatum on the roster, they shouldn't have had trouble facing this Select Team.
One of the first players to be noticed with Knicks ties was John Jenkins, who is still with the team. He played in 22 games with the big club last season, averaging 5.2 points over 14.5 minutes per game.
The Select Team also features Chasson Randle, who was with the Knicks during the 2016-17 season. He played in only 18 games that year as he split time with the Knicks and 76ers.
He may not be featured in the video above, but Travis Wear -- the former undrafted rookie out of UNC -- is on the roster. He made the Knicks team back in the 2014-15 season where he saw 51 games on the hardwood. He averaged only 3.9 points that season.
Travis Trice, the former Michigan State guard, also had a quick stint with the Knicks in 2015. He featured in just two games that season.
Team USA will have an exhibition game with Spain -- a formidable opponent in FIBA -- on Friday. So it will be interesting to see if they can clean up their play when better teams challenge them on the court.
