Cavaliers star F LeBron James was back in New York on Monday night, and he wanted all in MSG to know that he still believes he is "King of New York."
In fact, it was written on his signature shoe.
James flaunted his Nike LeBron 15 sneakers in black and red, but it was the message written on the back that caught everyone's eyes. The words "I'm" and "King." were seen on the left and right shoe respectively.
James continued to troll the Knicks on Instagram with pictures of his shoe selection, and a caption reading, "Walk with me! We're all Kings and Queens!!!"
The caption could be in reference to a statement made by Knicks C Enes Kanter back in November when the Cavs previously visited. Drama ensued that night when James and Kanter traded words following a scuffle involving the All-Star forward and rookie PG Frank Ntilikina.
James proclaimed himself "King of New York" in an Instagram post after that contest, and Kanter followed it up saying, "I don't care who you are, what you call yourself, King, Queen, Princess, whatever you are." Kanter, or any Knicks player for that matter, has yet to comment on James' latest poke at the team.
James certainly backed up the claim on his sneakers as he had another stellar night in the Garden. He recorded a double-double with 26 points and 11 assists in the team's 123-109 victory.
The Knicks will have their chance to answer James when they face the Cavs again on Wednesday night to finish up their 2017-18 campaign.
