Now Commenting On:

Basketball, unlike baseball and football, has a season that encompasses two years. If the Mets stink in 2013, they might turn things around in 2014. We can forget about a year entirely.

Basketball doesn't have that same luxury. None of us thought that we would be ringing in 2014 with the Knicks at 9-21, looking at a tough road ahead.

Over the next few weeks, the Knicks face some tough challenges. None might be harder than tonight's matchup in San Antonio. After the Spurs, they take on the Rockets, Mavericks, Pistons and Heat, all in the next nine days.

Despite the horrible start and the myriad of pointless storylines involving Chris Smith, the Knicks sit six games behind the division leading Toronto Raptors. They have 21 losses, the same amount as the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

I'm here to say, let's forget the rules... Let's forget that basketball seasons span two calendar years... The Knicks still have the ability to contend in the Eastern Conference and this Knicks fan is ready to say, so long 2013, it's time for 2014!
